About me
I have an MBA degree in Finance and International Business and am currently pursuing an accounting certification through coursework at the UBC Sauder School of Business. If you are looking for a very multi-faceted individual who could both capably deliver on required accounting tasks and be able to interface with other roles in a meaningful fashion, I would be that person. My six years of diverse work experience covers IT, consulting and business analysis as well.

Accounting Experience
As an analyst with Vancouver Coastal Health, I have performed
cost accounting analysis and proforma projections. With Bentree Investments, I prepared
tax reports and filings. During my most recent role, I assisted the
accountant several times with operational tasks including bank reconciliation,
payroll and accounts payable. I have exceptional Excel skills.
Accounting Education
Coursework through my management and accounting programs have included the following topics:

- Statement Analysis
Financial modeling skills
I can efficiently develop financial models in Excel, including the use of pivot-tables,
graphing, solver and array tools. My graduate studies focused on corporate finance topics
including capital structure and project evaluation. With Vancouver Coastal Health, I
developed an 11-parameter risk-adjusted DCF model to rank a set of 80 revenue projects in
the pipeline, evaluating them on capital requirements and long-term revenue potential. I also
modeled client demand to determine new optimum service pricing and room usage. With
Bentree, I applied my skills to model tax effects of special dividend offers and trading effects
on gains positions.
Technical database skills
In my most recent role as IT manager for Origin Home Financial, a major responsibility was managing our Microsoft-SQL Server operations database which captured all of our business data. I was able to suggest and implement a number of new reporting initiatives including financial reports, process reports and sales agent reports which increased Origin's efficiency. In this role, I was also responsible for supporting user data requests, improving data quality and testing all new applications that affected data. Previous to my work with Origin, I have set-up, developed on and maintained a wide variety of database platforms including MS-SQL, Oracle, MySQL and MS-Access.
Service focus
My experience in software consulting (with Mindquake Software) was focused on working with clients and delivering solutions to meet their needs and expectations. This can be done through a systematic approach involving such elements as properly assessing the users requirements, doing a multi-stage delivery and following up to ensure the delivery is well received. In a small organization, maintaining a service focus is very important. Outside of the software environment, my time spent teaching overseas has further enhanced my ability to present to and assist others in learning.
